About the law concerning Japanese knives

Nov 18 2019
A little trivia.
Japan has stricter knives laws than other countries.
An important part of the law is that you should not carry a knife without good reason.
Even if you have a good reason (for cooking or for outdoor use), you need to pack it strictly.
In Japan, it is not possible to carry a knife for self-protection. For this reason, knives for weapon use are not forged in Japan.
For example, when selling Syuriken, the image of this blog, you cannot sharpen the blade because it is treated as an ornamental craft.
However, Japanese swords can be possessed if they have an official registration certificate. This is because they are treated as works of art.
The knives sold on this page are mainly practical items.
