Most of the Hignonokami that you can get now is a knife made by Nagaokanekoma, but from the Meiji era to the early Showa era many blacksmiths produced the Hignokami-knife.
However, due to the industrialization of the industry and the restrictions on domestic knives, the number of blacksmiths producing Higonokami-knife has gradually decreased, and now only the Nagaokanekoma company remains.
Currently, the value of Higonokami-knife has been reviewed, and attention is focused on the knives produced in the past and their history.
The upper knife in the photo of this blog is Yamahira-Higonokami, which was manufactured about 40 years ago, and the lower knife is Nagaokanekoma-Higonokami, which is still in production.
