Akio Tasai
Tasai is a small blacksmith in Sanjo city, Niigata prefecture, Akio and his son Michio are making knives.
They not only make knives of fixed dimensions, they often make tools for carpenters of personal dimensions.
The blade of the tool is well-cut and reputed that the cutting edge will not break, so orders come from him all over Japan.
In their laminated steel, a unique and beautiful patterning technique called "Mokumeshiage" (Grain finish) appears.
The cutting tools that they make many are "Nomi" (Japanese chisel), "Kanna" (Japanese plane) and "Kiridasi" (Carving knife).
