◆Origin of the name of Higonokami◆
In the Meiji 20's, Nagaokomatarou began making knives for the first time at Miki.
The knife at the time was handmade, the blade was made by forging the steel, and the sheath was brass or iron dyed black was used.
The sheath was subjected to various sculptures such as flowers, birds and landscapes. Therefore, the number of craftsmen who can make one day is about 5 to 8 pieces.
Then it will be sold at Higo and it will be called Higonokami knife. The meaning of that name is Higo guardian's.It gained popularity in the field and the number of sales has greatly increased and its name has established.
Higonokami knife's fame spread more as Emperor Taisho bought a fertilizer in the "Kobe First Trade Production Co-op Party" held in Meiji 44
Currently, it is only Nagaokanekoma who has a registered trademark to call Higonokami. Since there is a string with a bell, it can be attached to key holders and bags.
